In 7th grade I participated in a mock trial in social studies. I enjoyed the experience so much that I wanted to become an attorney. During my attendance at DePaul College of Law, I had the opportunity to volunteer my time with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services helping indigent litigants pursue divorces. I found the family law work to be rewarding and challenging and, as a result, have practiced in the area since my graduation form law school. After practicing law for a few years, I expanded my specialty to include estate planning. I saw clients, friends and family suffer after the death of a loved one because an estate plan was not in place. Question 2 What is the best part about being a lawyer specializing in Family Law? The best part of family law is that I am able to help people through one of the most difficult times in their lives. Question 3 If you could offer one piece of advice, what would it be? Everyone, no matter what the value of your assets, needs to have an estate plan to protect your family in the case of your death. Question 4 What is one piece of insight you could give a student considering becoming a lawyer? Find an area of law that you are passionate about and stick with it. If you do, you will find rewards in the practice of law that are far beyond just monetary ones. Question 5 - What are fun facts about you? I grew up I Glen Ellyn and graduated from Glenbard West High School. My family, as guidance counselors, teachers and students, has been part of Glenbard West history for over 60 years. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my dog and children.
